“Kick him out the door” “Please leave” So many fans reveal their true feelings for one Spurs player

One gets the sense that the tide is turning with a good many fans and the days of unthinkingly referring to players who add nothing – but stay longer than the mother-in-law as ‘loyal servants’ is coming to an end. Tottenham’s Harry Winks was outed in this place as a colossal underachiever some time ago. Beyond his evergreen successful passing accuracy, there was nothing that anyone could routinely applaud.

The notion that Harry Winks could finally be on his way out of Haringey as suggested in passing by Football London sparked mostly unkind responses from fans on social media.

The first thought in my mind isn’t to cheer, but to wonder how drawn out any potential sale negotiations might be for a player that Daniel Levy is almost certainly to want too much money for. How much does a reliable, if boring midfielder goes for these days? It will be interesting to see whom if anyone forms an orderly queue.

He just hasn’t kicked on from the heady days of mixing it with with Modric in the Bernabeu a few years back. In fact he’s regressed, at the top end of the PL you need to be more than just a safe pair of hands and I reckon a move would suit both Spurs and Winks.

Winks got to a level and stopped developing, the issues with how he plays often passing slightly behind a player rather than balls he can run on to holds players up and stalls movement. This is more footballing brain being a fraction to slow for top level football rather than a technical issue.

Something changed Winks. He was a forward playing MF then all of a sudden his confidence and ability to move the ball and himself stopped. He got into the England team too let’s not forget.

Dele’s downfall, we know what happened with that media wh*re. But Winks 🤷🏻‍♂️

There are so many players that need moving onn,it cannot be done in one window or even two.The other problem being that a lot of them are homegrown and would need to be replaced by the same.

Will Mourinho think he can work under those conditions and in the time needed to achieve his preferred squad.knowing that every deal will be overthought to death and worse than a trip to the dentist.

The last thing we need is the academy overflowing with players we can’t offload and running down their contracts.

Oliver Winks, must be his lesser known younger brother… 🤔

I wouldn’t expect anyone to improve Sideways Winks. He showed promise, that’s true…in 2017. He spent some more years under Poch and now under Jose and hasn’t provided anything of note under either of them.

I too thought that a new manager could get more out of the players – and he did bring them from relegation form and 14th place to 6th (plus who knows what will happen from now until the end of the season, for all the doom and gloom, we’re 3 points off Chelsea in 4th, who have a more difficult run-in, plus CL games and an FA Cup date with City).

But seeing the overall play in Poch’s last year and many games this season, I think several players have reverted to type and therefore simply have to go now. No more indulgence or waiting for some magical coach to somehow polish the same guys – who threw their friend Poch under the bus and want to do the same to Jose as he’s calling them out – into a top 3 side. They were that, once, but never pushed on and didn’t even stay at the same level. They regressed.

Dele, Dier, Winks have to go as a minimum, probably Sissoko and Lloris (age) too. In with Pope, Ben White, Sabitzer. Surely it’s not that hard to do this quickly in time for preseason, instead of a failed lowball bid on August 31, right?

Time for my meds again…

You would think, or should I say I felt that this group of players would have improved as individuals under the leadership and expert coaching and guidance of Mourinho, in particular Harry Winks who had shown promise as a young player.
However this player has somehow gone backwards in his game and is not performing to the level everyone hoped for, maybe it’s the manager who has exposed his limitations or a lack of confidence within, but his performances have not been good enough for too long and the best is for him to move on come summer.
