Key Sevilla figure unhappy at the club – linked with a move to Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to the latest report from Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham could make a move for Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi.

Tottenham after 3 months of managerial search, finally appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new boss.

The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday.

With the managerial situation sorted, Daniel Levy is expected to turn his attention to the vacant sporting director position.

Fabio Paratici stepped down from his role back in April following the ban on all footballing activity imposed on him by Italian football which was extended globally by FIFA.

The position has been vacant since then with a couple of candidates linked with it including Wolves’ Matt Hobbs and Bretford’s Lee Dykes.

They have now been linked with Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi whose future at the Spanish club according to the report is in doubt.

The report states that he went through a difficult season at Sevilla which also strained his relationship with the club hierarchy.

It adds that Monchi ‘feels that he does not have full power in financial matters’ and is considering leaving the club.

Monchi and Tottenham enjoy a good relationship due to the frequent business between them in the last few years.

Considering the reason he feels unhappy at Sevilla right now is the lack of power in financial matters, it is highly unlikely that he will opt for working under Daniel Levy who is well known for his controlling nature over all matters including transfers.
