Kane is being overpriced reckons former Spurs ace turned pundit

Tottenham wants to keep Harry Kane and if he is to depart, they are keen to ensure that they sell the striker for a huge transfer fee.

Kane has told Spurs he wants to leave and with the absence of takers from outside England, Tottenham wants Manchester City to pay £160million.

At 28, he has just a few more years left to play the game at the top and City will not be signing him as a long-term investment.

Yet Spurs want him to stay or to leave for a record fee.

Darren Bent, however, believes his former club isn’t being realistic with their valuation considering the striker’s age and injury record.

He admits Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, but he insists that at 28, £160million is simply an unrealistic fee to pay for him.

He then said if Daniel Levy insists on getting more than £120m for the striker, then City would likely pull the plug on the transfer, forcing Kane to remain at Tottenham.

“Harry Kane is one of the best centre-forward in the world, but he’s not worth £160million,” Bent said on Talksport Breakfast.

“He’s 28 years old now, he has had injuries… what are you going to get out of him, four or five years? I just dont think it justifies that much money.

“Man City have got the money to do it, but Pep Guardiola and the owners are probably thinking, ‘no, £160m is too much’.

“Maybe £100m or £120m, that’s more realistic for Harry Kane.

“But if Daniel Levy is saying he wants £140m, £150m, £160m and Manchester City are not prepared to pay that, no one is going to pay that.

“And then Harry is going to have to stay and play.”
