Covid-19 has obviously caused everywhere and for football, it has had numerous ramifications. Now, with the introduction of quarantines, it could be the case that releasing a player for international duty, that player vanishes for essentially a fortnight.
The bottom line here for me is that the ‘integrity of competitions’ goes out the window because we must keep our eye on the money. The players are paid by the clubs and whatever duty they may or may not feel in their hearts is beside the point. The club’s come first.
Personally, I’d question the true motives of a player wanting to cause his side so much disruption.
