Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Nigerian striker Victor Orakpo.
The 18-year-old striker from VOE Football Academy in Nigeria has been linked with clubs like Newcastle United as well. The talented young striker attracted the attention of several European clubs during a tournament organised by German giants Bayern Munich back in 2022.
His performances ‘caught the eye’ of the two Premier League clubs, but they are now set to miss out on him. The 18-year-old striker is reportedly heading to French club OGC Nice and he will complete his medical examination with them before completing the formalities of the transfer as per Sebastien Denis.

Orakpo is a talented young striker who could have been a quality long-term addition to the two English clubs. Tottenham certainly need more quality and depth in the attacking unit and the 18-year-old would have been a useful option for them in the long run.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League would have been an exciting option for the player as well. Regular football in England could have accelerated his development.
It will be interesting to see if he can hit the ground running in the French league now. If he manages to impress with OGC Nice in the coming seasons, there will be plenty of opportunities for him to join bigger clubs in the near future.
Meanwhile, Tottenham should look to sign an established goalscorer at the end of the season. They need someone who can lead the line for them every week and score goals consistently.
