Journalist opens up on Tottenham links with 26-year-old attacker who ‘frustrates people’

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for the Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin a few days ago.

Apparently, the North London giants made enquiries about the winger during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been an impressive acquisition for Newcastle but he can be quite frustrating at times because of his inconsistency.

According to journalist Dean Jones via Give Me Sport, it would be quite surprising if Spurs decided to make a move for the French winger at the end of the season.

While there is no doubt that Tottenham need to add more quality and depth to their attack, the 26-year-old could prove to be an underwhelming acquisition for Tottenham.

Tottenham should look to bring in an attacker with more end product. Harry Kane has been the only reliable goalscorer at the club and they need to add more goals to their side.

Meanwhile, Jones claims that Tottenham invested a lot of money in the Brazilian striker Richarlison during the summer transfer window and they will look to get the best out of him.

Richarlison has been deployed on the left wing more often than not, and Tottenham will have to give him an extended run in the side in order to get him back to his best. Therefore, the move for Saint-Maximin seems unlikely. Spurs will not be able to give him ample game time ahead of Richarlison next season. The 26-year-old Newcastle winger is better off joining a club where he will get regular playing time.

“They’ve already got the situation where they need to get Richarlison into this team and make that purchase pay off, so they’ve got to find a way to make that work”, Jones said.

“Saint-Maximin, he still frustrates people at Newcastle and I’d be surprised if Tottenham really prioritised getting him into the club.”
