Worrying injury for Tottenham man, condition more serious than expected

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso recently picked up an injury while on loan at Villarreal.

Initially, the Argentine international was expected to recover soon but it seems that the injury is worse than first feared. According to Gaston Edul from TYC Sports, the player’s injury is worrying for the Spanish club.

The true extent of the damage is yet to be determined and it will be interesting to see if he can recover in time for the World Cup in Qatar later this month.

Lo Celso was expected to be a part of the Argentine squad in the mega event and it would be a devastating blow for him if he misses out on the showpiece event.

The player is currently on loan at Villarreal and he has been quite impressive for the Spanish outfit since joining them. His long-term absence would be damaging for Villarreal as well.

Lo Celso initially joined Villarreal on loan in January 2022 and he impressed thoroughly with Unai Emery’s side. His loan deal was then extended at the start of the season.

There is no agreement between the two clubs for a permanent move and the Argentine is set to return to Tottenham at the end of the season.

Spurs will be hoping that the injury is not too serious and that Lo Celso can get back to action soon and impress enough to secure a permanent exit from the London club next summer.
