Journalist confirms four English clubs including Spurs have ‘had eyes on’ €50m forward

Athletic Club Bilbao attacker Nico Williams is a target for multiple Premier League clubs at the end of the season.

According to Dean Jones from Give Me Sport, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old Spanish winger and they could look to make a move for him at the end of the season.

“Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs have all had eyes on him too, and we should remember that amid the Chelsea hype. But if Raheem Sterling is leaving in the summer – which there is a chance of – this is a great player to be looking at to replace him.”

Spurs could certainly use more quality in the wide areas and Williams would be a long-term asset for them. He has proven himself in La Liga this season with six goals and 12 assists across all competitions. He has the quality to do well in the Premier League as well.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can beat the competition from the other three English clubs and sign Williams. The attacker has a €50 million release clause in his current contract and Spurs will have to pay up if they want to sign the player.

Williams could transform them in the final third with his pace, flair and goalscoring ability.

Meanwhile, Jones claims that he could be an option for Chelsea to replace Raheem Sterling if the England international leaves at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Williams might want to join a club in the Champions League and Tottenham are better-placed to secure a top four spot compared to Chelsea.
