Journalist claims ‘most disappointing signing’ of the summer could be snubbed by Conte this season

According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is likely snub summer signing Djed Spence this season.

The Lilywhites signed the 22-year-old in the summer, with talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook even calling him the ‘perfect player’ for Conte despite the Italian claiming that ‘it was was not a signing he wanted to make’.

And in the first six Premier League games of 2022/23, the Englishman has played just one minute of top-flight action, with the manager heavily favouring Emerson Royal for the right wing-back position.

And Dean Jones believes that Spence could be at the end of a Conte snub. He told GIVEMESPORT:

“I’d say the most disappointing signing might be Spence because I just don’t see him figuring.

“There was a pretty big build up to his arrival, but he has only played one minute so far, and Spurs even looked into signing an additional player in his position as the clock ticked down.”

The 22-year-old was one of Nottingham Forest’s best players during his time at the City Ground, playing a key role in the club’s promotion to the top flight, starting 41 games.

However, there is plenty of time for Spence to prove his worth for Conte keeping in view a couple of hectic months are coming with the Champions League group stage starting this week. If Conte decides to give the youngster a run of games, he will have to seize on the opportunity.
