Tottenham Hotspur have a number of talented young players at their disposal and journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has now heaped praise on the talented Jamie Donley.
Pitt-Brooke revealed on View from the Lane podcast that Donley is very highly rated at the club and he is regarded as one of the best talents coming through at the club in his generation.
“I think the best young player they’ve got is a lad called Jamie Donley. He was born in Northern Ireland, I’ve seen him play actually, and he played in that game he was good. He’s a natural footballer, lots of time on the ball, elegant, skilful. He was playing in attacking midfield but I gather he can also play up front. He’s very highly rated and is thought to be the best of his generation coming through at Tottenham at the moment, so he’s one to watch out for,” Pitt-Brooke said.
The 18-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder and he will be hoping to force his way into the Tottenham first-team scene in the coming seasons.
The Premier League club could certainly use a creator from the central areas and Donley could prove to be a useful player for them.
It remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte is prepared to give the youngster an opportunity in the coming months.
The Londoners have done well to nurture talented young players like Oliver Skipp in recent years. It will be interesting to see if Donley gets an opportunity to showcase his qualities for the first team now.
If Spurs cannot provide him with the necessary opportunities in the coming months, they should look to loan him out so that he can continue his development with regular first-team football at another club.
Clearly, the midfielder has a lot of potential and he could develop into an important first-team player for the club in the long run.
