José Wants To Bring João Cancelo To Tottenham

By The Boy -

El Desmarque are running a fascinating transfer rumour that ought to be well received by Spurs fans. Who knows, perhaps the José Effect could be seen trending on social media again in just a matter of weeks.

The suggestion is that Joao Cancelo has struggled to get meaningful game time commensurate to his pedigree since signing for Pep Guardiola. The story is perhaps a familiar one at side burdened with squad depth, and Cancelo has seen his contribution marginalized occasional Premier League outings and to cup games.

El Desmarque even go as far to say that when the 25-year-old was at Juve, he was warned by Cristiano Ronaldo that his time at The Etihad would be hampered by time on the substitutes bench.

How much would the boy, João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo cost? CaughtOffSide found a valuation of £50million, which seems about right. Perhaps take a look at the clip below and tell us what you think?

Seen as too old, rumours of a one year deal offered but he wants two years. Could end up going to China for a big payday?

Yes, good point. If he meant more of the same low grade punts then he’s right, it probably wouldn’t have helped.

The season with no signings was most likely Poch saying “thanks, but no thanks” to another Nocludo, he did it once with Clinton Cards and did it again. It was at this point Poch must have realised that the investment was never going to be there to take the squad forward.

He was spot on…

The clarification needed here is did he mean more money on definite upgrades or did he mean a new collection of Clintons or N’Cluedos? Or youngsters like Clark? Lots of Levy wriggle room.

And that’s the nub of it; deep down Levy would wish all this football nonsense away if he could, gets in the way of running a ‘proper’ business.

I also have a slight concern with Tanganga’s passing range atm. Will expect he will continue to improve as he settles into the side. Definitely a perfect counter-attack player Mourinho needs {Cancelo}.

Often happens think wenger arsenal french henry pires viera petit etc. Poch us argies. Redknapp liked the english lads. Only natural to want some ‘of your own’ in your team. We dont have any portugese do we. I would like us to sign some quality spaniards. Isco would do for one.

The way he tore down the wing though in injury time. Man of the match he was quality there. I assumed he was a right back or wing back.

I stopped buying spurs merchandise when the superbowl opened and the neglect was happening.. Someone brought me some spurs shortbread biscuits for Christmas. Average quality. Each one was tiny, barely a mouthful. Also there were only nine in the tin.. Two short from eleven I thought.. Typical.

Levy is not a football man, and therefore shouldn’t be chairman of a top football club, as his one League Cup in 20 years shows…

Tanganga isn’t a wing back, could possibly learn the role but looks more like a centre back who can do a job there in a more defensive role.

Maureen likes real wingbacks who specialise, which is why he’s preferred Aurier over Foyth. I don’t think Aurier’s crossing is any better that Foyth’s, probably picks him for his pace though.

He’s going to be left with no choice but to spend. He got lucky because Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal have all gone backwards for different reasons and opened the door for Spurs. That blip is coming to an end United and Chelsea are rebuilding big style, even Arsenal are shaking themselves. Then there is the threat from unexpected quarters that he hasn’t bargained for, Leicester and Wolves, down the line Everton could be a force. When he saw Champions League disappearing he had to act, hence the appointment of Mourinho. He has no choice, either spend or sell.

Levy has to pay Joe Lewis his dividend first, then he has to maintain his own salary as the highest paid CEO in the PL, and then there is his well deserved annual bonus to take into account. You also have to take Maureen’s salary into account which is not to be sniffed at. Player recruitment is a secondary issue and is an irritant to Levy.

Lets face it 10 mil being spent on any Spurs players is a lot of money to spunk on some hopeful and loan him back etc just doesnt make sense to such a thin squad. Even in Levy’s stupid mind its a strange one.

Another critical article on Levy’s transfer strategy re Eriksen by Sam Wallace in the Telegraph today. Eriksen’s stats make interesting reading but Wallace describes how it is sometimes the right thing to sell a top player at a top price if the money can be spent more usefully. He mentions Liverpool selling Coutinho and Leicester selling Maguire. Levy, on the other had made a mess of selling Eriksen and is now facing the possibility of losing him for nothing. I have now read three critical pieces on Levy in the Telegraph and a couple in the Daily Mail. Donna Cullen won’t be able to spin him out this time, the jig’s well and truly up.

Good signing if the intention is to be deployed as a wing-back because he won’t be getting in ahead of the sensation that is Tanganga! Tanganga is Bonzo with a football brain.

Strange isn’t it but Pooch recruited Argies and now Jose is hoovering up Portuguese players. £50 million not a prayer unless Levy can do a loan deal with City so no chance. Levy apparently has baulked at £30 million for the AC Milan striker. The good thing is that the media appear now to be biting at Levy’s rump since the Deloitte figures were circulated about us being the richest club in London. I bet Levy choked on his emmenthal when he read that in the papers. No more hiding the facts and playing the pauper. Levy and ENIC’s in actions are now being described as low balling and insulting to the fans and show no ambition. The heat is being turned up after 20 years of lying and hiding behind projects and lack of funding. It is laughable how when new players do arrive all the soundbites are about how fabulous the stadium is and the training facilities. Its like owning a Rolls Royce Phantom and sticking WD 40 in it because you don’t want to pay the price of an oil change
