Jose Mourinho joins Steve Bruce at the head of the next manager out market

You get your club to a cup final and are still in the hunt for a top-four finish and yet you are joint-favourite to be the next manager to leave their club. Jose Mourinho must be wondering what the hell is going on.

It is all about standards and expectations. Jose was brought in to bring success to Tottenham and the way this campaign is unfolding, that is starting to look unlikely.

It has been a terrible week so far and when that happens, as it does to most clubs, then the reaction can be a little hysterical and that is probably what is happening right now.

Daniel Levy is unlikely to sack a manager just before a cup final and that can still get them into Europe next year and of course, there are the financial implications to consider as well.

Levy may well have been forced into taking drastic action if the fans where in the stadium, but they are not and that means the chairman is probably immune to the strong feelings amongst the fanbase.

Anyhow, the bookies certainly feel that Mourinho could be on his way sooner rather than later making the Portuguese joint-favourites to be the next manager to leave alongside the beleaguered Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce, at odds of 3/1 with the majority of the bookies.

Next comes Sam Allardyce at 8/1 and Ralph Hasenhuttl at 10’s.

So, not exactly odds on but the fact that he is joint-favourite gives you an indication of the trouble that Mourinho is in. The pressure is certainly on and a loss to Aston Villa in the next game will most likely see those odds drop even further and it would not be a surprise to see Jose go odds on.
