It was always going to be interesting to see how Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy worked together at Tottenham considering their very different personalities.
When Mourinho joined the Lilywhites, it was a surprising appointment considering the fact that Spurs aren’t the biggest spenders under Levy, while the Portuguese has developed a reputation for spending big at the teams he has managed.
They have combined well to sign at least one player in the last transfer window even though Mourinho later claimed that Steven Bergwijn wasn’t his first choice target (Daily Mail).
That seemed to be a sign of good things to come, but it hasn’t lasted so long with a new report from L’Equipe via Sport Witness claiming that Mourinho wanted Thomas Meunier, but the move for the Belgian was scuppered by Levy and the player has now joined Borussia Dortmund.
According to the same report, Mourinho is non too happy about the loss of Meunier, especially when he put the effort in and telephoned the 28-year-old.

The loss of Meunier because of Levy’s reluctance should prove to Mourinho that he won’t win every battle when it comes to transfers at Tottenham.
The former Real Madrid manager has been known for falling out with teams when they fail to match his ambition in the transfer market and he needs to be prepared not to get every player he wants else an early exit from Spurs might be on the cards for him.
There will only ever be one winner in any battle of wills at Tottenham and that is Daniel Levy. It would be in Mourinho’s best interest if he accepts that inevitable outcome now before he creates an untenable situation for himself.
