According to Sport.PL, Tottenham interest in Krzysztof Piątek could not be more real, and this week José Mourinho and the AC Milan striker had a video call in order to assess personality and personal goals etc.
The talk of a possible loan deal was mentioned here, with the figure of £10million suggested as the amount to cover a year long stay in London for the 24-year-old. The piece concludes with the speculation that Piatek is 5th in the pecking order of coach Stefano Pioli, and that if AC Milan cannot get the €30million they would ideally like, then a loan with an option to buy could be agreeable.
As mentioned previously, this business of loaning players is a welcoming softening of Daniel Levy’s approach, perhaps acknowledging the massive limitations of buying youth prospects and hoping that “some of them” come good.
Tottenham need a striker, and neither Gedson Fernandes nor Steven Bergwijn are to be confused with one.

MORE Bergwijn: A player José asked for, or a player Levy has offered, in the place of nothing at all?
Loans in to bigger clubs of players of that quality, age and value is pretty unheard of. Levy is so risk averse etc. Joke.
Teddy, Berbs, Keane and Defoe were all good to go.
Darren Bent and Pav were second rate cast offs, perhaps that’s where it started?
Sorry, but don’t understand your comment.
I am hoping the signing of Piatek comes good, so I don’t follow what you’re saying. Are you referring to Lo Celso?
“hope? Where? Here? A lot want levy to fail. Some gutted celly is quality. Some can’t even except it’s a fantastic bit a work. Great signing.
Exactly!
Now seems a good time to remind some people that we have made a decent signing in GLC. I remember people heavily criticising the loan, then saying there was a top 4 clause or that he wouldn’t be interested in us any more when we started badly… none of it true. We had an option to sign him – we let him prove himself and now we know we’re getting a good player. Personally I think the loan before you buy arrangement is great.
We’ve done a lot of lumping the ball up front already. It hasn’t got us far.
If it’s a loan for 6 months that will get us over this period without Kane.Piatek could be useful because we’re not exactly scoring for fun at the moment.
When he’s not being a gay hater yes, he and Aurier would get on like a house on fire! 😂
If you want the best, you’ve got to beat the rest. Not have the 17th net spend in the league.
“The game is about glory” – Bill Nic’s estate should sue for breach of copyright!
Spend 60m on a better striker ffs! We’ve got about six players who can play wide left… the lack of a plan is almost funny! 😂
We’ll see how he does. I’m not into taking it out on the player but it does look a lot like another cheapo punt…
Well I can understand that – Dutch auctions and all that. But even when opponents drop out as with Manures and Bruno Fernades he didn’t step in as far as I know.
Isn’t he in a nursing home, sitting on £7bn? Never get to see Spurs win the league, is he even a fan for that matter? 😂
Piatek confirms that lumping it up and waiting for scraps is going to be the direction of travel under Maureen…
Eriksen out, GLC in. This is getting exciting now! 😂
Probably, he’s into managing expectations after all. Levy never gets involved in a transfer tussle with a rival. He just won’t get involved…
Why am I not surprised? Is his middle name Jansen?
It is beyond pathetic.
And one who’s pally with Lucas – what bliss?
LOL that goes without saying. I wonder if he does it just to wind up the supporters.
Who knows, the only thing that is consistent is Levy’s appetite for cheaper out of favor players…
Levy won’t pay 30m, it’ll be a few quid up front and a loan fee. The rest will be add ons.
As usual Levy likes to buy players that the selling club see little intrinsic value in and want gone. When he gets them cheap the Levyologists all cry “what a deal”.
Levy mainly buys surplus stock other club’s no longer want (Aurier, Moura more recently) and hopes to move it on at a higher price. If it doesn’t work out then he’ll probably get the money back anyway.
This is bargain bucket trading, nothing to do with being extra shrewd at all…
Lo Celso is now a permanent signing and terms are agreed with Ajax for Bergwijn at 27M.Pleased about Gio.
Why is he 5th choice, why are they getting rid? Because he didn’t step it up from Genoa to Milan?
He can hold the ball up and head it, Jose wants someone who can do that. Levy will only get someone on the cheap…
Maybe there are other reasons (internal politics – face not fitting) for not playing him?
Oh I am not questioning his ability as a player – what little we have seen shows positive signs, but if he couldn’t play from day one, what was the use of taking him on?
5th in the pecking order at Milan, but good enough for Levy.
This is the kind of player Bournemouth or Burnley usually target. More cheapskate nonsense from our highly paid time waster…
He’s weighing up if we can sell him on in 4 season’s time for a 200% profit no doubt.
I think if Ndombele is fit, he changes us as a side – that said, at the time me and another poster on here “gaza” were very wary of why so a sought after player was not actually being sought after.
But I didn’t say that all I want is ‘fit’. I said that if he’s fit and not crocked that will be something as compared to Ndombele who has done diddly squat for the team thus far and at TWICE the money of Piatek. At least he will hit the ground running and his record is not that bad.
I am not saying they are the same player – I am saying if all you want is fit…then there are options that are far less than £30m. For me this constitutes a chunk of money on something that isn’t quite good enough…but will fill the need. I would rather we were shopping for players that will move us forward.
I am all for playing Parrot, and you cannot compare Llorente to Piatek at 24.
if that is all we need may as well play parrot, or gone back in for Llorente. Or scour the lower level clubs for players they don’t rate. I would rather we bought a £30m punt from the Championship that is proving week in, week out than a player deemed surplus to requirements.
As long as he’s fit and not crocked, that’ll be something e.g. Ndombele at twice the money.
agree
I am still unsure – I maybe being overly negative, but £30m is not a lot for a top striker, AC felt the need to bring in Zlatan and are considering not keeping this lad to learn from a modern great. to me that spells trouble.
This will be a welcome addition!
Here’s hoping it comes good.
He looks like the right one for us to be honest. Good goal scoring rate in a good quality league.
Anyone that’s not Islam Slimani will do right now to be honest!
