“Joins Spurs next year” – Alasdair Gold shares update on Tottenham transfer; player to fly out tomorrow for medical

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine is on the verge of completing a season-long loan transfer to Belgian side Westerlo.

This move comes after a proposed loan to Birmingham City fell through on transfer deadline day, prompting Spurs to find an alternative club where Devine can continue his development.

Club insider Paul O’Keefe recently reported that Westerlo were leading the race to secure Devine’s services, with negotiations ongoing.

According to today’s update from Belgian outlet Gazet van Antwerpen, Tottenham have now reached an agreement with the club.

And as per an update from Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, Devine will now fly to Belgium tomorrow to complete the season-long loan transfer.

He shared the following update on X:

“Understand Alfie Devine will fly to Belgium tomorrow as he looks to wrap up a season-long loan deal with Westerlo. He’ll link up there with centre-back Vuskovic, who joins Spurs next year.”

With his contract at Tottenham running until June 2027, this loan move could be a crucial step for the 20-year-old as he aims to establish himself in the first team.

Devine joined Spurs from Wigan Athletic in 2020 for around £300,000 and has made two senior appearances for the club so far.

Devine showcased his potential during loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last season, contributing three goals and six assists in 43 appearances.

His performances with Tottenham’s U21s have also been impressive, with 13 goals and seven assists in 49 games.

As Devine prepares to join Westerlo, this opportunity could prove vital in his journey towards becoming a regular in Tottenham’s first team.
