Tottenham are closely monitoring the progress of Luka Vuskovic, their highly promising young defender, who is currently gaining valuable experience on loan at Belgian club Westerlo.

The 17-year-old Croatian centre-back is set to officially join Spurs in 2025, following a £12 million agreement reached in September last year.

His performances in Belgium have caught the attention of many, fuelling excitement about his future role in North London.

Tottenham insider John Wenham recently weighed in on Vuskovic’s development and his potential path with Spurs. Wenham believes the club will carefully evaluate the teenager during pre-season next year before deciding whether to integrate him into the first team or send him out on another loan to continue his growth.

A lot will depend on the club’s status in European competition next season, which could influence how Vuskovic is utilized.

Wenham speculated that if the Lilywhites qualify for the Europa League, Vuskovic could be given a chance to gain valuable first-team experience in that competition.

However, if Tottenham secures a Champions League spot, the club might opt to send the youngster on loan again to ensure he gets consistent playing time at a high level. His performance during pre-season will be crucial in determining his immediate future with the club.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“I think they’ll definitely look at him in pre-season before a decision is made.

“I’ve previously suggested that I thought Vušković would join a Championship club on loan. However, they looked at Lucas Bergvall and decided he was ready for the first team.

“It also depends on what European competition we’re playing next season. Should we end up in the Europa League, Spurs might decide to keep him around and establish him in the first team by using that competition.

“Should we qualify for the Champions League, they might send him out on loan. However, if he impresses in pre-season, who knows what could happen.”

Luka Vuskovic has impressed Tottenham with his incredible form

So far, Vuskovic has been making a strong case for himself. His performances at Westerlo have not only highlighted his defensive abilities but also his capability to contribute offensively.

In just 11 appearances in the Belgian Pro League, the centre-back has scored four goals and provided one assist, including a recent brace against Beerschot.

His performances have earned him praise from fans and pundits alike, with suggestions that Spurs have struck gold with his signing.

With great expectations surrounding Vuskovic, Spurs will be keeping a close watch on his progress as they prepare to bring him into the fold when he officially joins the squad next year.
