Tottenham remain focused on strengthening its squad with young talent, and Irish forward Mason Melia is the latest rising star linked with the club.

It was recently reported that Spurs have submitted a bid for the St Patrick’s Athletic teenager.

Tottenham insider John Wenham, who hosts the popular Lilywhite Rose podcast, has noted that securing Melia’s signature could prove “complicated.”

Due to his age, Melia is not eligible to move until September 2025, meaning Spurs would likely need to sign him and leave him on loan with St Patrick’s until he can officially join the North London club.

The 17-year-old striker has already made a significant impact at St Patrick’s Athletic.

Having made his debut at the age of 15, he quickly cemented his status as one of the most promising young talents in Irish football.

Melia became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer and continued to deliver standout performances, which have not gone unnoticed.

Tottenham isn’t the only club eyeing Melia—other Premier League sides are also interested, making the competition for his signature fierce.

However, the fact that several top clubs are pursuing him speaks volumes about the teenager’s potential.

His versatility, technical ability, and maturity have made him a standout prospect for scouts across Europe.

John Wenham shares latest on Mason Melia

Despite the complexities involved, Wenham remains optimistic that Spurs can complete the deal.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“By all accounts, Melia is a very good player.

“Unfortunately he can’t move until September, which makes things slightly more complicated because the transfer window would have already shut.

“Therefore, all Spurs can do is sign him, and then leave him on loan with St Pat’s until January 2026. However, it does sound like Spurs are pushing ahead.

“If there are other teams in for him, it would make sense to get the deal done.”

Signing Melia would align perfectly with Spurs’ long-term strategy of building a future-ready squad through the signing of talented youth players.

They have already invested heavily on youngsters over the past few transfer windows, having signed the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Min-hyuk Yang, Ashley Phillips, Luka Vuskovic and Alejo Veliz.
