From fan to captain: Schillaci becomes Spurs’ first women’s inductee

Tottenham Hotspur announced on 6 September 2026 that Jenna Schillaci has become the first ever Women’s inductee into the Club’s Hall of Fame, a milestone confirmed as the club prepared to kick off a new WSL season. The former defender and long-serving captain is described by Tottenham’s official statement as one of our own, the fan who lived her dream and broke down barriers to reach the top.

The numbers behind that reputation are hard to argue with. Schillaci made more than 300 appearances across 13 seasons at Spurs, lifting eight trophies including a quadruple in the 2016/17 campaign.

From Wormley to the WSL

Schillaci first joined Tottenham at 16 in 2000, before spells at QPR, Langford and Enfield, then returned in 2009 after finishing university to help drive the women’s side up the football pyramid. That climb culminated in promotion to the Women’s Super League, and anyone following the current state of the women’s game at N17 will know the club’s growing investment in Spurs Women owes plenty to the foundations she helped lay.

She captained the side out for their first WSL fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, in front of 24,564 fans and live on BBC – a long way from a girl with nowhere to play until her father set up Wormley Girls FC when she was six.

Life after retirement

Schillaci retired at the end of the 2019/20 season but has stayed close to the club as Women’s Academy Operations Manager. She has also built a broadcasting career as a pundit and co-commentator across BBC Sport, Sky Sports, TNT Sports and talkSPORT, and founded NEXT-JEN, an organisation aimed at mentoring the next generation of female footballers.

The announcement ties this induction to a broader relaunch of the Hall of Fame, though specifics of that project weren’t detailed in the club’s statement. For now, the headline is simple enough: a first, and a deserved one.
