James Maddison comes off the bench to score a fantastic free-kick to seal an impressing Tottenham victory over a strong Aston Villa side.

Maddison was dropped to the bench for the first time after some poor recent performances, which saw him being subbed early for the last two Premier League games.

However, the Englishman responded to him being benched in the perfect manner.

He came on for Richarlison after the Brazilian injured himself during Tottenham’s 3rd goal.

And in the 96th minute, he put the cherry on the top of a brilliant second half display with an incredible free-kick.

Solanke was brought down right on the edge of the box late in stoppage time. The former Leicester City man stood over the free-kick and curled one around the wall and into the back of the net.

Tottenham make a second-half comeback

The game saw Aston Villa take the lead early in the first half through Morgan Rogers. But Spurs came out in the second half looking much more threatening.

Within 5 minutes of the second half, they equalised through Brennan Johnson. Spurs captain Heung-min Son played in a delicious ball that eluded every Aston Villa player with Johnson reacting to it first as he tapped it in from close range.

And in the 75th minute, Dominic Solanke produced a brilliant finish to turn the game around. Dejan Kulusevski played in a great through ball to send him through, and the former Bournemouth man chipped Emiliano Martinez with perfection to give Spurs a 2-1 lead.

4 minutes later, he scored again from a counter, this time a finish from close range after Richarlison unselfishly played in a pass across the goal for him to finish from close range.

It has been a great week for Spurs who bounced back from a Crystal Palace defeat with back to back wins against Manchester City and Aston Villa. Ange will hope to build on this form to further climb up the Premier League table.
