James Maddison aims social media dig at Liverpool star following VAR controversy

Tottenham Hotspur recently picked up a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League.

The victory was marred by a VAR controversy where Liverpool’s opening goal was disallowed. Colombian winger Luis Diaz was incorrectly ruled offside after he had found the back of the net and the decision infuriated Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German manager demanded a replay after the game and the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has now aimed a dig at his England teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold after the pair linked up on England duty.

The Spurs midfielder shared a picture with the Liverpool defender and captioned it: ‘still asking for a replay’ in an attempt to playfully mock the Liverpool star.

Liverpool have had a number of decisions go against them this season and they will be thoroughly disappointed with some of the officiating this season.

Regardless of that, Liverpool have started the season well and they will be looking to get back into the UEFA Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been outstanding under their new manager so far and they are currently on top of the league table.

Spurs are unbeaten in the league so far and they will be looking to return to the Champions League and push for trophies this season. They have played an exciting brand of attacking football under Ange Postecoglou and their performances against teams like Arsenal and Liverpool suggest that they could be genuine contenders this season.
