“It’s true that Tottenham” – Fabrizio Romano makes interesting claim regarding Spurs linked midfielder

Tottenham continue to keep a close eye on Crystal Palace’s star playmaker Eberechi Eze, despite not securing his transfer during the recent summer window.

Spurs have been linked with the England international for several months, but no formal bid was made this summer.

Instead, the club ended up signing French winger Wilson Odobert from Burnley, a player Ange desperately wanted.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham remain interest in Eze. The club is still keen on the 26-year-old, who they “really appreciate” for his skill set and playmaking abilities.

Romano shared this on Daily Briefing, noting that while no club activated Eze’s release clause during the summer, Tottenham and Manchester City had both been tracking him.

He said:

“No club did trigger the release clause and there were no concrete contacts so in the end, that was the reason he remained at Selhurst Park.”

“Man City for sure had him on their list in 2023, and it’s true that Tottenham appreciate him, but there was never any formal bid presented from either club or any other this summer.”

Last season, Eze scored 11 goals and providing four assists in 27 Premier League appearances, despite missing a month due to injury. His creativity and dynamic attacking style has made him a standout player in the league, perfectly fitting the type of play Ange Postecoglou prefers in his high-octane, attacking system at Spurs.

The 26-year-old has carried that form into the new season, making a strong impression in his first three Premier League matches, including a spectacular goal against Chelsea.

Eze remains under contract at Crystal Palace until 2027, meaning any potential deal for Tottenham would require a substantial bid.

However, with Spurs looking to bolster their squad and enhance their attacking options, Eze could emerge as a key target next summer.
