“It’s like you don’t have him” – Conte says Tottenham star is barely available anymore

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has opened up about the persistent injury problems of Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Moura.

The 30-year-old has not been able to play regularly owing to injury problems and Conte has revealed that the player is barely available.

Conte said via Football London: “It’s like you don’t have him. About Lucas Moura, we didn’t have him from the start of the season. And we are continuing to not have him.

“He has this problem, he is struggling a lot to find a solution. For sure it’s a difficult situation. Because I have a good player in my squad, but he’s never available.”

Moura will be a free agent at the end of the season, and Spurs have not agreed on a contract extension with him yet.

There have been rumours that Moura could look to move on at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to let him leave on a free transfer.

Moura was a key player for Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino and his contributions helped Tottenham challenge for the title under the Argentine manager and reach the finals of the Champions League.

However, he has fallen down the pecking order since the arrivals of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Furthermore, his injury issues have not allowed him to force his way into Conte’s first-team plans either.

It seems that a move away from the London club at the end of this season could be ideal for the player. He will be hoping to get over his injury problems and get his career back on track.

It seems unlikely that he will get regular chances to prove himself at Spurs anymore and therefore a summer transfer would be ideal for all parties.
