“It’s his decision” – Ange refuses to rule out a move away for ‘outstanding’ Tottenham man

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s senior assistant manager Chris Davies is linked with a move to Championship side Swansea City.

It was reported yesterday that the club has turned down an approach from the Welsh club who has emerged as a leading contender for the managerial role following Michael Duff’s dismissal.

And while yesterday’s report indicated that Tottenham will maintain a tough stance and not let go of Davies, today’s comments from Ange Postecoglou suggests otherwise.

The Tottenham manager was speaking to the press ahead of the game against Newcastle earlier today when he was asked whether the club has rejected an approach and if Davies is saying.

Ange praised his colleague, calling him an ‘outstanding’ individual before stating that the decision to leave is solely his make.
He said: (via Football London):

“No, but I’ve had a brief discussion with Chris and he knows we’ve got a busy week so we’ll focus on that. He’s an outstanding individual, he’s done some great work with us and great work in the past. It’s not surprising to me that Swansea or other clubs would look at him. It’s what you want to be honest.”

“You want good people and when you’ve got good people they’re going to attract attention. From my perspective, whatever that transpires to, it’s very much in Chris’ hands. It’s his decision in terms of what he wants to do moving forward and obviously the club will deal with it from there.”

His comments suggests that the decision to leave for Swansea is upto Chris Davies and that the club may not come in his way if he decides to leave.
