After another lacklustre performance last night, Ange Postecoglou’s days are surely numbered, where Tottenham were unceremoniously dumped out of the FA Cup this time. It was a largely unremarkable performance, and after the loss, Ange highlighted how many players he was missing, but perhaps chose not to address why so many of his stars are in the club’s physio room.
The supporters appear split on the subject of the day; with many viewing the sacking of yet another manager to have been proven as a path that leads nowhere. Others hold The Board accountable, but how, exactly, might one address such a situation?
According to Interlive, there are three candidates, as of today, to replace Ange. There are two ‘internal’ choices, Andoni Iraola, and Marco Silva. However, Fabio Paratici, who remained an external consultant for Spurs after the 30-month disqualification suffered for the capital gains scandal that overwhelmed Juventus, is trying to convince the club’s top brass to focus on Simone Inzaghi.
Other obstacles for Tottenham include the club’s reputation in the transfer market, as the list of coaches with good CVs who have failed in N17 is now surely becoming questioned, and concerns could be made that whoever came in next was just another manager banking on a handsome payout when things inevitably go wrong.
Paratici has produced more than his fair share of winners during his time working with Spurs, and maybe this isn’t a bad shout.
It may be worth mentioning, at this point, that Inzaghi was thought to be in line for this job before José Mourinho was appointed.
Over to you, Daniel.
