Tottenham Hotspur wants to continue to improve their defense, which began last summer. The north London-based club landed Cristian Romero from Atalanta BC and brought Emerson Royal from FC Barcelona.
As the January window is set to open in a couple of weeks, Tottenham could be in the market for a central defender as Romero will be out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury.
Furthermore, Spurs might want to acquire someone to put alongside the Argentine defender in the long term. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia) has revealed that Spurs target ACF Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic has a release clause of €15-million release.
If the report is accurate, then the Premier League side should be all over the 24-year-old, considering the price. Transfermarkt has the Fiorentina defender’s value at £22.5-million, so it would be a steal.
Also, with both manager Antonio Conte and Managing Director of Football coming from Serie A, they know what Milenkovic brings to the pitch.
The defender is under contract until 2023, and along with Tottenham, AC Milan is linked to the Serbian defender. Milenkovic has made 149 appearances for the Italian club, scoring 12 goals and registering one assist.
