“It is disrespectful” Conte snaps at Spurs’ latest transfer link

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence in recent weeks.

A report from Sky Sports claims that the 21-year-old full-back will undergo a medical with the London club later today, ahead of completing a £20 million move from the Championship club.

Tottenham are set to pay an initial fee of around £12.5m but the total package could reach £20m including bonuses.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Nottingham Forest last season and he was quite impressive for them. Forest managed to secure promotion to the Premier League earlier this summer.

Spurs need to add more quality and depth to their full-back positions and Spence could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for them.

Manager Antonio Conte was asked about the potential signing during a press conference earlier.

The Italian revealed to Football London that he does not wish to comment on the speculations because it is disrespectful to the players and the clubs involved.

However, he added that Tottenham are always looking to improve their squad if there is a possibility of doing so.

“Yeah, about Spence we don’t want to comment about speculation because it is disrespectful for all the other players, for the club and the other team. Sure we are always looking to improve the squad if there is the possibility”, he said.

Tottenham have been quite active in the transfer market this summer and they have already signed players like Richarlison Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
