‘It could happen’ – Journalist shares update on target Tottenham have been ‘looking at for so long’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

The 24-year-old Burkina Faso international has been on the radar of Premier League clubs and Tottenham have been pursuing him for weeks now.

Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed that Spurs have been after him for weeks but it is unbelievable that the transfer has not been completed yet.

According to Jones, Tottenham have been after the defender for six weeks and he believes that the deal could still happen.

“Well Tapsoba is the one they’ve been looking at for so long now. I don’t know why this has taken so long. I honestly thought this would be signed off quite a long time ago if I’m totally honest. I’m still led to believe that avenue is still there for them, they’ve been talking to him and Micky Van de Ven at the same time for, we must be into week six of this. But I’m still led to believe it could happen,” Jones said to Ranks FC Ultras Poscast.

It is no secret that Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements and Tapsoba would be a quality acquisition.

The 24-year-old has shown his quality in the Bundesliga and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League as well.

Tapsoba would add some much-needed pace to the Tottenham backline. It could prove to be a vital attribute, especially in Ange Postecoglou’s free-flowing attacking system.

His recovery pace could prove to be invaluable defensively and the 24-year-old has the physicality to thrive in English football as well.

Spurs are holding talks with Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg as well. It seems that the north London giants are pursuing both players at the same time and it will be interesting to see if they can get a deal across the line in the coming weeks.
