‘Isn’t a target for Spurs’ Journalist shares news that Spurs fans might not entirely hate

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for Romelu Lukaku.

According to journalist Tom Barclay, the Belgian is not a target for the North London club and it will be interesting to see who they bring in as a replacement for Harry Kane.

The 30-year-old completed his move to German champions Bayern Munich earlier and he will need to be replaced adequately.

Lukaku has found himself out of favour at Chelsea and he has been linked with clubs like Inter Milan and Juventus as well.

The 30-year-old Belgian has not been at his best for a while and it would have been quite surprising if Tottenham decided to replace a prolific goalscorer like Kane with him. The Chelsea striker would have been an underwhelming addition for the fans.

There is no doubt that the Chelsea striker can be a world-class player on his day but they need to bring in someone with more consistency and a well-rounded skill set in order to replace the England international.

Kane was more than just a goal-scorer for Tottenham and his playmaking abilities will be missed as well. Apart from that, he was a leader in the dressing room and his defensive contributions will also have to be replaced properly.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks and they certainly have the finances to get the deal done.

As far as Lukaku is concerned, he needs to join a club where he will get ample game time next season. He had his fair share of injury problems last season and scored just 14 goals across all competitions.
