Is Daniel Levy using Amazon All or Nothing series to rebuild his public image?

By Bruce Grove -

One Premier League chairman that most people love to hate is Daniel Levy, even some fans of Tottenham are tired of him and they will be happy to see the back of him.

He has been at the helm of Spurs for a long time now and it seems that his reputation opens him up to criticism on a regular basis.

An individual like him will always want to take advantage of an opportunity to repair his reputation.

Levy isn’t a person that talks all the time as he does most of his job behind the scenes.

Because of that approach he often leaves fans and football lovers with unanswered questions about some of his decisions, he seems to have found the perfect platform to repair his reputation to some degree.

Spurs were filmed by Amazon for a documentary the whole of last season as they struggled for form and even change managers mid-season and Levy took time to explain that there are misconceptions about him and wanting to improve Spurs as a club.

In All or Nothing which will be released next week, he said, as reported in the Standard:

“I think the perception of me is that I’m hard-nosed, stubborn, don’t care and [am] not ambitious, I think a lot of that isn’t fair.

“I certainly think I’m incredibly ambitious to improve the team. They just don’t understand how hard it is to get to that place. I’ve run a lot of businesses. Running a football club is the hardest business I’ve ever run.”

I’m afraid that discount Daniel has blown it for me. The perception that he just doesn’t care is very clear to all. A well run football team would have a clear team building strategy and would pursue that in a a methodical and sometimes imaginative way. ENIC and Daniel just float to wherever they think they can see a bargain buy. If he really cares about our football club, he should find someone capable of formulating and following a team development plan. Then he can fall on his sword. Lord knows he’s placed it between enough managers’ backs by this time. Think he could easily get someone at half his price.

It should still be a good watch even as levy-doctored propaganda.

Aye was fearing it would be heavily edited.. It’s sounding like this is the case. Was hoping for a warts and all doc.

Will be interesting to see what he considered the best spin after months of careful consideration and brutal editing. Because enic-approved PR is all this is.

Running a football club as a business has been harder than all the other businesses he’s run? Then sell to someone who might also run it like a football club as well. You’re in the wrong job, as the ONE League Cup in 20 years clearly demonstrates.

He just doesn’t care, he’s not passionate about the football whatsoever. only the business infrastructure and asset value.

You want ambitious owners? Fenway at Liverpool, Abramovic, Citeh’s owners go without saying. Go further back to Jack Walker if you like… Levy is a different animal, a thick skinned one.

Every time he opens his mouth to the public it’s only ever to remind everyone in some new way, just how little money there is to spend on the team…

I can hear 10’s of thousands of fans shouting, “Put your money where your mouth is”

Or what’s the other one, “talk is cheap, but not as cheap as some of the signings you’ve bought in over the years”.
