Is Daniel Levy Really Going To Green Light This Colossal Spanish Deal?

Our old friend Paul Jiggins of The Sun has come up with a real belter here, and so liberal amounts of salt might be required. The suggestion from a club insider is that Tottenham might be looking to extend Gareth Bale’s loan deal to a second season.

Now I was a relieved as anyone to see Gareth wake you from his 7-month snooze and finally show the world that lurking within there was still a fully functioning footballer, but this idea is surely getting ahead of ourselves?

According to Jiggins, A club insider had insisted: “We were always going to make our decision then and always thought it could turn into a two-year loan.”

At the risk of repeating myself, we will need to see an awful lot more from Bale than performances against sides that are on the receiving end of 4-0 hammerings. There is also the small matter of the Welshman’s eye-watering wages. Even when subsidized, £325,000 a week would be a horrendous drain on Mourinho’s wage bill, even if fans were allowed through the turnstiles.

I hope Bale’s current form continues, and he grows and grows — but I’m not holding my breath.
