“Interest is actually very, very credible”, “one to watch” – Journalist makes exciting claim about Tottenham’s pursuit of £50m attacker

Tottenham’s interest in Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson is gaining traction, with various reports indicating that the London club are interested in signing him.

In fact, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Spurs are ‘weighing up a bid’ for him and are exploring the possibility of offering players like Djed Spence, Joe Rodon, and Bryan Gil as part of a deal for Johnson.

Johnson has been identified as a potential signing, particularly in the context of a potential departure of Harry Kane, as previously reported by the Daily Mail.

The player’s versatility and diverse attacking abilities could help Tottenham adapt their style in the absence of Kane.

Described as the fastest forward in the Premier League with a remarkable speed of 36.70 km/h, Johnson’s attributes make him an enticing prospect for Tottenham.

Nottingham Forest values their prized asset at £50 million and have already rejected a £35 million bid from Brentford.

According to Taylor, Spurs’ interest in Johnson is ‘very credible’ but could face competition from other Premier League clubs interested in signing him.

When asked about the player’s future plans, he told GiveMeSport:

“If Kane goes, I know Johnson isn’t the same kind of player as him, but I think Tottenham are going to have to sign more diverse attacking options.

“I think that will be the way to deal with losing Kane. I don’t think you’re going to replace someone like Kane, so you’re better off having different options in changing the style.

“From what I understand their interest is actually very, very credible in Johnson.

“That said, there are other clubs in for Johnson, not least Brentford who have had a club record £35 million bid rejected.

“But there are other teams in the mix from the Premier League for Johnson as well. So I think that could be one to watch.”

Nottingham Forest’s financial concerns, related to Financial Fair Play regulations, might prompt them to consider selling Johnson at a reduced price.

The pressure to raise funds before the end of the transfer window could influence their decision-making process
