Insider claims Spurs are closing in on a ‘£250million’ deal which would break English record

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are planning to announce a huge stadium rights deal before Christmas.

The Athletic had reported last week that Spurs held ‘meaningful talks’ with Google who were interested in a deal for the naming rights to the 62,850-seat state-of-the-art stadium.

However, Richard Busby, CEO of BDS Sponsorship, one of Europe’s leading commercialisation agencies told Football Insider that Amazon ‘are still in the running to secure naming rights for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’. Amazon already has a relationship with the club, as they collaborated on their All and Nothing documentary series in 2020.

Google and Amazon are both reportedly competing for a 10-year contract worth ‘up to £25 million per season‘ which will amount to ‘£250million over 10 years‘. Both Amazon and Google are hoping to reach a deal before the festive period which would be beneficial for them from a commercial point of view. The report also states that Spurs ‘want a deal in place’ before the knockout stages of the Champions League begin.

When Tottenham built their new stadium three years ago, Daniel Levy stated unequivocally that the club is not in a rush to secure a stadium naming rights deal and will instead wait until they find the right one. Levy has now found two incredible options in Google and Amazon as he looks to close a record-breaking deal.
