‘Information confirmed’: Tottenham to compete with Arsenal for €50m South American

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tottenham will face competition from bitter rivals Arsenal and the German club are demanding a fee of around €50 million.

The Ecuador international has established himself as a reliable defender in the Bundesliga and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the two London clubs.

Spurs have signed Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin this season to improve their defensive unit. However, they could still use another reliable central defender in the summer. The arrival of Willian Pacho could complete their defensive unit for the foreseeable future.

However, the 22-year-old Bundesliga defender will want to play regularly and it remains to be seen whether Spurs can provide him with such assurances. The Ecuador international will have players like Cristian Romero and Van de Ven ahead of him in the pecking order.

At Arsenal, he will have players like William Saliba, Jurrien Timber Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White to compete with as well.

Willian Pacho might not be a guaranteed starter for Tottenham or Arsenal next season. Therefore, paying €50 million for him might not be an acceptable idea for the two clubs. They will probably hope to sign him for a more reasonable price.

It will be interesting to see if they come forward with an official approach for the defender in the coming months. He is a key player for Frankfurt and the Bundesliga club will not want to lose him for a knockdown price.

He has a contract with them until the summer of 2028 and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The German outfit are under no pressure to sell him in the summer and any club hoping to sign him, will have to pay a premium.
