‘….I’m afraid’ – Alasdair Gold issues an update on key star’s contract situation

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s long-term future at the London club has been a constant topic of speculation in recent months.

The 29-year-old striker has a contract with the Premier League club until the summer of 2024 and he has been linked with a move away in recent years. Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer and Bayern Munich were thought to be keeping tabs on his situation this summer.

However, Spurs have managed to keep him at the club despite the interest from other European clubs and it will be interesting to see if they can convince him to sign a new long-term contract with them.

Reliable journalist Alasdair Gold from Football London has now revealed that Tottenham are yet to open contract talks with the England international striker.

Regarding potential contract talks between the player and Spurs, Gold said to Football London: “Nothing yet I’m afraid. Spurs haven’t kicked those off as of this point but surely it won’t be long.”

The 29-year-old is undoubtedly the best player at the club alongside Son Heung-Min and Tottenham must secure his long-term future if they harbour ambitions of winning major trophies in the coming seasons.

Kane is a world-class player who is crucial to Tottenham’s quest for silverware and one would have expected Daniel Levy to sort out his future sooner.

A player of his calibre deserves to play at the highest level where he can challenge for major trophies on a consistent basis. However, that has not been the case at Spurs and the Londoners will need to match up to his ambitions if want to hold on to him.

Oh well, that’s a shame. If the dysfunction at the club wasn’t so relentless then people like myself wouldn’t feel the need to flag it up, over and over again, like your ‘broken harp’.

One minor trophy in 23 years…

If you could honestly read the nonsense you have been saying lately. Every single comment is essentially the same thing. Like a broken harp .

“Spurs haven’t kicked those off yet”

Eh? Perhaps that’s because Kane isn’t interested in renewing, I’m not sure the club are quite in the driving seat in this situation are they… Same old tired, ENIC endorsing spin from the club’s favourite ‘man on the inside’, methinks…
