“if he was to leave” – Journalist convinced £60m star could replace Kane at Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil striker Richarlison replacing Harry Kane as the club’s No.9 would not be the ‘end of the world’.

Harry Kane’s future at the club remains uncertain with the striker being linked with a move away from Spurs since a couple of years.

The England striker tried to force a move to Manchester City last year but he was not successful with Daniel Levy forcing him to stay.

This summer he was strongly linked with Bayern Munich with the German club’s CEO and manager both publicly admitting their admiration towards the Spurs star. However, since Conte’s arrival, Kane is said to be happy at Tottenham and there have been reports that he is willing to open talks regarding a new contract with the club.

According to a recent report, the Spurs talisman is monitoring Conte’s contract situation at the club and will only sign a new deal if the former Chelsea manager stays too.

The club on Monday resumed contract talks with Conte but it has been reported that the Italian has made a number of demands to Levy which includes assurance of full backing in the transfer windows.

The longer the contract talks linger on the more the chances of Kane leaving the club next summer. If Kane does leave his beloved Tottenham, Jones believes Richarlison could be a good replacement.

“Obviously keeping Kane remains a matter of huge importance and they want it to happen, but if he was to leave and you can slightly alter the side to suit Richarlison, it certainly doesn’t feel like the end of the world.

“You just rely on Brazil’s No.9 instead of England’s No.9.“

Kane is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, having scored over 260 goals in 408 Tottenham appearances. He will not be short of suitors with the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea already rumoured to be interested in signing him.
