‘If he had that…’: Former player feels Tottenham star could be sold because of one weakness

Alan Hutton feels Tottenham could part ways with Dejan Kulusevski this summer.

Tottenham have been working hard to further bolster their squad ahead of next season. They have already added some quality players and are looking to make a few more interesting signings before the new season kicks off.

The North London club want to sign another winger and if they do succeed in signing a top-quality wide player, Alan Hutton believes it could lead to the departure of Dejan Kulusevski.

The former Juventus forward has done a decent job since joining Tottenham in the winter of 2022 but Hutton feels his lack of pace is one of the reasons why Spurs could sanction his sale.

While speaking to Tottenham News, Hutton said: “I watch him sometimes and I think he is outstanding and then other games I’m not too sure but of course, he’s a technically gifted and talented player.

“I’m just thinking to really kick on and become that top four team that they really want to, I just feel that he missed a yard of pace. If he had that burst of acceleration then I think he would be right up there.

“It could be something that they might look into if they get a top quality player coming the other way that they feel is better or will enhance the squad, then it is something that they will look at.”

Since making the move to North London, the Swedish international has featured in 96 matches and has contributed towards 34 goals (15 goals, 19 assists). While the 24-year-old is a technically gifted player who has impressed since his arrval, Hutton feels he is not as consistent as Spurs would like him to be.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to move him on in the coming weeks. He has been linked with clubs like Napoli, especially since the arrival of Antonio Conte at the helm.
