Ian Wright thinks Spurs could complete perfect signing on deadline day

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson has caught the attention of Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who believes that Johnson’s potential signing could turn Tottenham into a ‘dangerous’ team.

As reported by various outlets including the Daily Mail’s Transfer Confidential newsletter, Tottenham are plotting a late move for the Wales international.

Tottenham are facing Fulham tonight in the League cup tonight, after which they are expected to speed up their efforts to sign the Premier League attacker.

Ian Wright, speaking on Premier League Productions, claimed that Tottenham’s midfield options, including Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, and James Maddison, are already impressive.

And he suggested that if Tottenham sign Brennan Johnson, they will become a team capable of causing a lot of problems for opponents.

Wright told Premier League Productions (28/8, 2:40pm):

“I have seen them linked with Brennan Johnson,”

“That midfield, with Bissouma, Sarr, Bentancur and Maddison, in and around there, then with Richarlison up front.

“If you can get a Brennan Johnson – then you are looking at a Tottenham team that’s starting to cause a lot of problems.

“If they can bring in another winger like a Brennan Johnson, who is very exciting. He would be a perfect Tottenham player.

“I could totally see it, just like I see it with Maddison. Then I would start to see the Tottenham, in their final form, look very, very dangerous.”

Nottingham Forest, facing Financial Fair Play concerns, may be forced to consider offers for Johnson.

While the club values him close to £50 million, the pressure of Financial Fair Play constraints could lead to a slightly reduced fee in order to agree a deal before the transfer window closes.
