‘I wouldn’t be surprised’ – Sky Sports man makes big claim regarding Antonio Conte

Kris Boyd believes Antonio Conte will not sign a new contract unless Spurs offers him ‘millions’ in the transfer market.

The Italian’s contract expires at the end of the season, but Spurs have the option to extend it by a year. It was reported earlier this week that the club has resumed contract talks with the Italian with the former Chelsea man reportedly laying out a list of demands for Daniel Levy. The demand are said to include complete backing in the upcoming transfer window as well as future transfer windows.

The good news for Spurs fans is that there are negotiations taking place and it is now a matter of waiting to see how it shapes out.

And Boyd speaking to Sky Sports about the potential challenges that Spurs could face in tying the manager to a new contract said:

“Antonio Conte is one of those managers who goes in and has an impact straight away.”

“They have improved. They have Champions League football.

“I get the feeling, unless, Tottenham are going to give him the millions that he will need to turn it around and to get them to challenge your Manchester City and Liverpool’s at the top, then I think, because Arsenal have turned it around as well there is more pressure. You can see signs that Manchester United are improving.

“It’s going to be very difficult to get into that top four again. You would expect Chelsea to come. The whole Juventus stuff is still lingering in Italy as well.

“I know there is talk of a new contract, but I wouldn’t be surprised, (if he doesn’t sign a new deal). I’m not 100% sure.”

If the previous two transfer windows are any indication, Daniel Levy and co intend to support Conte in the transfer window to a large extent, after all, the club broke their club record to sign Richarlison. However, it appears that Conte was left a little disappointed by the club’s failure to address some key areas in the summer, including a top-class attacking midfielder, a right-wing-back, and a centre-back.

Whether Conte will sign a new contract or not will hugely depend on the assurances Levy gives him regarding the club’s ambition matching his. If in case they fail to come to an agreement it could also mean Kane will also leave as he is reportedly monitoring Conte’s situation and will extend his contract if Conte stays.
