Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards feels Tottenham will secure Champions League football this time around.
Tottenham are yet to kick start their 2024/25 Premier League campaign but they have done great work in the transfer market and are expected to excel in Ange Postecoglou’s second season in charge. Micah Richards predicts that Tottenham Hotspur will secure a Champions League spot this season, after failing to do it last time out.
While talking on The Rest is Football, the former Manchester City defender said: “I think they will finish fifth but… will we get the extra fifth spot this year, so they will get Champions League.”
The North London club finished fifth last season and they missed out on a UCL spot by just two points. While Richards thinks they will once again finish fifth on the points table, Spurs could still find themselves in the Champions League if the Premier League is handed an extra spot in the competition which has been given to the Bundesliga and the Serie A for the 2024/25 season.
Without signing a Harry Kane replacement, Postecoglou was able to guide Spurs to a fifth-place finish last season. After breaking the bank and signing Dominic Solanke for a club-record fee, Tottenham are expected to better this time around.
Apart from signing the former Liverpool star, they have extended the loan spell of Timo Werner and signed three exceptionally talented youngsters Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.
