‘I think there’s an interest’ Journalist gives update £110k-a-week star linked with Spurs

By Mehdi Gokal -

Daily Express journalist, Ryan Taylor has revealed that Tottenham are interested in Leicester City star James Maddison. However, he is not sure if they will make a move for him considering the money he will cost.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been one of the best midfielders in the league over the past few years and has been consistently for Leicester. Last season he bagged 12 goals and provided 8 assists catching the attention of a number of clubs including Tottenham.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Taylor said: “Maddison, I think there’s interest, but I don’t know how strong that interest is and whether they will actually make a move considering he would probably cost upwards of £50m.”

On paper, he would be an excellent signing for Spurs since he is the sort of creative midfielder Spurs are lacking at the moment. Antonio Conte has been looking for that creative spark in his team that could be the final piece of the puzzle with Nicolo Zaniolo heavily linked as well. According to latest reports by an Italian publication, Spurs are preparing for a second bid for the Roma star and if that is true then that would put the Maddison reports resting.

Not good enough. Not consistent enough… And there is an overwhelming aura of smugness about him.. No thanks Mads.

Stop making sense. We need another RWB who cannot cross but could do well as a righted sided CB!

Considering our creativity comes from WBs and we have potentially 4 RWBs none the finished article maybe better to sign a top player like Perisic for the other flank.

Hopefully that’s his last professional contract and the guy can get out the game for good, as he should have done a couple of seasons ago when he decided he couldn’t be bothered anymore. He’s made his millions, time to stop rinsing fans and clubs of any more money Del.

We do need a creative player, and I thought we should have bought him from Coventry and Norwich, but Maddison reminds me of a higher quality David Bentley, a little too flash. Southgate has little time for him too after he left the England training camp and headed straight to the casino!

I would rather have him than Ndom, but I’d rather have Adebayor back than him (what has my life become?). If the price is a worry we should get Arthur Melo on loan from Juve.

Maddison is definitely the type of player we still need.50M is not a lot of money for a player of that ilk when you think that we paid more for Domdelly.

Due diligence would appear never to have been considered when we signed him, thanks to the famous double act Levy/Hitchens.

The only doubt I have with Maddison,is he really that good.As Joe says below,he is proven PL quality, but his form dipped badly following his injuries last season and although he improved towards the end he never became as good.

Maddison is proven at 2 different PL clubs now. He would make a solid HG signing. I just believe he is a luxury signing at this point, and Spurs cannot overspend on a luxury signing.

To At Large: Frank Lampard went over Dele’s laziness in training on BBC Sport. Quick excerpt: Lampard said about Alli : “He had a massive role. We brought him to the club after a tough time.
“I’ll be honest – sometimes it’s like we have to wait for you, can you train better? Can you fight to make me play you?”

Sounds pretty damning to me as lazy in training. Dele was born to be that big fish in a small pond, doing the clever little flicks and tricks that draw the occasional oohs and ahhs. He never grew out of that trap.
