This was a peculiar performance from Moura who as Steve Mcmananamanaman pointed out on my stream, managed to foul a number of Leeds players – whilst actually being in possession of the ball – which is a rarefied stunt at the best of times.
Context is our friend and in the 28-minutes the Brazilian was on the pitch, he managed to hit 60% success in everything he did (you will recall that Bale was 51% and Dele was 45%) which just shows you the difference in mindsets.
Lucas’ passing was notably improved when compared to the previously mentioned duo, hitting 90%. So for all the Jamie Redknapp’s of the world banging on about Bale. Moura would have been a better option.
One has to feel sorry for Moura, he looks – for the foreseeable – to be relegated to the midfield’s third wheel – on the strength of a political sketch that has nothing to do with his ability to play football.
That’s rubbish.
Moura is a player you want to do well but his ball control is suspect, he is at his best running at the opposition but as you said Dele picked 2 key passes. Moura does not score a lot nor does he figure in assists for such a skilful player.
Where was Lucas in the first half of the season, he was awful then.
It might have something to do with 7 league goals in 2 years.
Totally, Lucas has been treated poorly by Poch in the past and now mason but lets be honest its levy picking the squad not mason. He’s a puppet on a string and the fall out between Jose and Levy was due to Levy constantly meddling, interfering and lack of support. Lucas had played his best and most consistent football under Jose. The team selection has become really political I’m just shocked that Pierre hasn’t been subbed for Winks yet to fulfil Levy’s circus. I’ve just read that Paul Robinson suggest that Levy valued his players more than his manager which was Jose at the time, and by all accounts Poch had the same fate due to certain players before, probably the same ones surprise surprise. Its no wonder managers don’t want the job when the chairman values underperforming deadwood over every manager. I’m surprised considering the plaudits Levy earns on how amazing he runs his business that he lets his feelings for certain players effect his judgement so often. I’m starting to wonder if there’s something else we need to know. Paul also says that certain players were drifting away under Jose’s management and there may have been an exodus of players, and levy couldn’t let that happen. I’m not sure but isn’t that what is exactly needed, not just for Spurs but for the players best interests too. Delle, winks, sissoko, aurier & lamela have hardly lit up the ground pre, during and post Jose, so come on a good clearing of the decks is exactly what is needed at spurs not keeping them on the books even longer. Bale has now kicked spurs in the teeth again post Jose so surely we cant blame him for this one that he wants to try and play for Real Madrid next season, so much loyalty hes shown us lol
To paraphrase context. Dele you say had a 45% success rate yesterday as opposed to Lucas who had a 60% rate.
I am not a fan of either but within Dele’s 45% was an assist for a goal and an assist for a goal disallowed by the finest of margins for offside. From your heat map of Lucas not one of his successes remotely threatened a goal and most were either sideways or back. Surely a 45% success rate resulting in 2 goals is better than 60% or even 100% achieving no end product?
Not while Baldy
s picking the team he won
t.You cant fault his work rate or fight for the cause…it wasn’t one of his better performances yesterday, but he was our best player in the cup final, and was hooked…suspect he may start in place of Bale against Wolves.
