“I refuse to think” – ESPN pundit isn’t buying the rumors linking Harry Kane to Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked to a possible move to Manchester United, a club that needs a proven striker for next season, so it is no surprise that The Red Devils are looking at the 28-year-old.

However, ESPN’s Gabriele Marcotti isn’t buying this rumor as one that will come to fruition. Instead, the reporter believes that this information comes from Kane’s camp due to Manchester United not having a manager to sign off on the pursuit.

Furthermore, with Cristiano Ronaldo still in the mix, it’s hard to envision them going for Kane, considering the 37-year-old has made all his starts from the center-forward position.

“I don’t know for certain; I’m just going to speculate and suggest here that 110-percent this comes from Harry Kane’s agent,” Marcotti said.

“Obviously, they need a center-forward, but I refuse to think that all the mistakes that United have made that their new crew would go out and spend so much money on Harry Kane and his wages while Cristiano is still there, unsure whether they can shift him and without the thumbs up from a new manager.”

Sure, Manchester United could shift Ronaldo to the wing, but having a player in his late 30’s going up and down the flanks isn’t ideal. As a result, a Kane move would replace the Portugal international in the starting eleven.

However, if Spurs finish in the top four, these rumors and discussions could be for not.
