‘I like Arsenal’: Reported Tottenham target opens up on transfer links

AC Milan forward Rafael Leão has been linked with a move away from the Italian club in recent months.

The 23-year-old Portuguese international has been outstanding since his move to Italy and he helped AC Milan win the league title last season.

Naturally, his performances have caught the attention of the top Premier League clubs, and Tottenham happens to be one of the clubs keeping tabs on him.

However, the London club have been dealt a blow, with the player admitting that he likes Tottenham’s rivals Arsenal instead.

The winger told RDP Africa (via Fabrizio Romano ): “Experience in new league? Yes, in the future… but now I’m 100% focused on AC Milan. It’s a top club and I’m under contract there. I like the city too. I watch many games. This year, I like Arsenal — they’re playing very well.”

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea as well.

That said, the 23-year-old is expected to sign a new contract with AC Milan in the near future.

There is no doubt that Leao is a top-class talent, who has all the attributes to develop into a world-class player.

However, it would be quite surprising if Tottenham decided to move for him in the coming months.

The Londoners already have Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane at their disposal. Furthermore, they signed Richarlison during the summer transfer window and Brazilian plays in a similar role to that of the Portuguese international.

Tottenham are better off investing in their defence and midfield instead.

Leao is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and he is likely to cost a premium.

The Londoners have other priorities and a move for the 23-year-old Milan forward seems highly unlikely at this stage.
