However, Tottenham managed to hold on to him in the end and the 29-year-old has been in outstanding form for the London club this season.
Kane has scored 12 goals in 15 Premier League games so far this season and he is undoubtedly one of the best players on the planet.
It is natural for a player of his ability to be linked with top clubs and there are rumours that Spanish giants Real Madrid are keen on securing his services.
Popular pundit Richard Keys has now reacted to the links with the Spanish club, and he has revealed that there are rumours of the Spanish champions being interested in the 29-year-old England international.
He said on beIN Sports: “I have heard a lot of recent speculation that Real Madrid have quite fancied him down the years. Who knows, if these rumours develop into solid talk.”

It will be interesting to see if Los Blancos are willing to come forward with a concrete offer for the England international in the coming months.
Star striker Karim Benzema is currently sidelined for a few months with an injury and the Frenchman is in his twilight years as well. Real Madrid will need to replace him soon and Harry Kane could prove to be an excellent alternative.
