“I don’t want to infect other people” – Son discusses his reason for receiving the vaccine

LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 02: Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 02, 2021 in London, England. (Photo by Clive Rose/Getty Images)

Over the past two weeks, Tottenham Hotspur has dealt with a COVID-19 outbreak leading to their past two Premier League matches being postponed. Spurs also had their UEFA Conference League group stage fixture canceled, and if Spurs don’t play the game by the end of 2021, it will go down as a forfeit.

Right now, it seems Tottenham’s matchup against Liverpool will occur, and ahead of the matchup, Son Heung-min discussed what’s going on within the squad. Son stated that he’s double vaccinated and he cites not wanting to infect others as the reason for his decision to get vaccinated.

“I’ve vaccinated twice,” Son said with the Mirror relaying his remarks. “To be honest, I felt I needed it because I didn’t want to infect other players or other people if I had Covid. It doesn’t mean that if I get vaccinated, I won’t get Covid, but the percentages would be a bit lower, so I don’t want to infect other people.”

“Also, the rules and the traveling — because I’m not only here in England, I travel to the national team — that is why it was the best option to have it. I have not regretted having it and was happy to have my second vaccination.”

The English media outlet also cites that in South Korea, Son’s home country, 81-percent of the eligible population is vaccinated. However, despite the 29-year-old already taking his vaccine, he understands that it’s a personal decision, and Son doesn’t plan on pushing anyone to get vaccinated.

“It is a personal issue, and I respect any decision they make because it is personal. In South Korea, they had a lot of people vaccinated, but also some people didn’t want it,” Son said.

“But we should listen to how they feel because if we don’t talk, we don’t get any answers. We should respect any personal issue and people’s minds over the decision.”

Tottenham hopes to secure all three points against Liverpool as they hope to crack the top four, sitting seven points behind Arsenal for fourth place. Nonetheless, Spurs do have four games in hand.

You’ve just described yourself you mug… You were the first to run your mouth at me the very first time I didn’t agree with your Botchy love and adulation.. You have done the same repeatedly with others, I read another one before my previous post.. You bite everyone, fighting talk where most men come from, yet whine like a little baby when you get a taste of your own medicine… And yeah just as I thought, you’re a cowardly little keyboard warrior, stick to staying home and acting like a big man behind your computer screen… You’ve slagged others and I off loads of times you hypocritical moron.

You’re the one who starts gobbing off and calling people names, generally at people that don’t agree with something you’ve written. So turn that set of values about picking fights on yourself, pot calling the kettle. But then, perhaps you’re one of these people who thinks they set out what’s acceptable when you don’t even adhere to it yourself. Not only do you become aggressive at the slightest attempt to further discuss beyond just being agreed with.

Covid kills people and it is a serious matter, but for well over 95% of the population it will be a ‘flu’ of some description. Oh, I’m so sorry I said that, I’ve been a naughty boy and I shall never discuss anything beyond what you set out, or you might start getting all punchy about it. Nobody’s slagged you off, if you take offence to opposing opinions, discussed at length and robustly, then that’s your department. Best not to discuss in that case, I reckon.

He’s the best centre back in the league.. Was just a play on words, I’m not attacking the mans personality or anything. Don’t you have a sense of humour? You laugh at inappropriate subjects, you think covid symptoms, when like mild flu is somewhat funny, which is strange… You mouth off strangers on here like you want to fight… Is that what you want Easto? .. A proper prick you are… Ever want to meet up with me and discuss anything further like a real man (not mouthing off behind your keyboard you top social media keyboard warrior) then I’ll be more than willing. I’m up and down the country once every 2 months so no problem. You little mug.

Very good point, some of the ‘science’ (especially regarding spread) just hasn’t been studied with any real vigour. Whatever the theories are, the reality is something different.

Interesting. Exaggeration and worse case projections have been so widely used, that one surely has to wonder what the agenda is?

This is why people start to wonder about the sheer amount of vaccine they intend to administer to the non-venerable over the next three years. Especially when it’s not backed up with any statistics that actually justifies it…

The first round of jabs were crucial for the vulnerable, but across the whole population it has been effective in preventing heavier symptoms in that small percentage of other groups that might need hospital care. Even a small percentage of 67m people was still going to problematic for the health system. The boosters back in October a ‘belt and braces’ for the vulnerable approach, all seems to make sense.

However, a third jab in six months for the non vulnerable is without any proven cause and effect.

The government also announced a deal about a month ago for Pfizer to supply the UK for the next three years with Covid vaccine. They have to use it, regardless of it’s actually needed or not.

East Stand

Two mates of mine caught Covid about two months ago. Both the same age, infected at around the same time, within a week of each other.

One of them hasn’t been jabbed at all and the other was double jabbed. Both obviously caught it, same severity of symptoms, same duration and after affects. 100% identical outcomes from infection, what role has the vaccine played there exactly?

East Stand
East Stand

Quarter of what? Antibodies? No antigen tests are ever carried out on the population, the vaccine has stopped severe illness and reduces symptoms but vaxed people still get Covid, they might not even know they have it.

I believe in science over crackpot theories, it’s just there are so many holes in the strategy. Most of it also comes with the ‘may’ ‘might’, ‘should’ caveats too.

Thing is, if Conte can get those kinds of levels out of them again, then there’s no way you’re selling them in January.

It’s strange really, Poch trained them really hard and he got them playing at a high level, and now Conte is doing the same. It’s as if without that intensity that they switch off and become blunt.

I have no idea what Jose and Nuno were doing with them in the week but whatever it was didn’t produce good enough levels across the team. They suddenly look committed again, really good to see.

They both were hugely improved. Both have me question whether Newcastle or someone else coming in for them is a good idea. Can Conte get something decent out of these two perennial disappointments? 😂😂😂

Ok, give the statistics on it if you think you’re right. You’re being rude because your argument is on such thin ice. ‘FAR’, ‘HELPS’ what’s next? ‘MIGHT DO, NOT SURE’? Let’s have some stats to back up your bad tempered drivel eh?

The infection rate went down because the first round of vaccines were completed early summer. They always go up in the winter, regardless, new strains are completely normal and expected.

That’s why they give the flu jab in the winter, to stop serious illness. The vax and previous infection certainly does that, but spread? Sod all evidence. If people don’t get classic symptoms (like the vast majority of the younger population) then they don’t test, That doesn’t mean it’s not circulating and spreading. Use your common sense.

Debunking the Gov’s science….

To get to 5,000 deaths, we would need an average of around 1.7 million cases per day at the end of January and the highest we have seen in the pandemic was on 17 December at 93,045. Therefore we need an increase in cases of 1823%.
But to get to 1.7 million cases per day, you need to see significant daily growth as it does not just happen overnight. If we assume the growth in cases is exponential, then by 31 January we would have seen around 25 million new Covid cases. So far through the pandemic, we have recorded 11.2 million, so Professor Ferguson must expect more than double the cases in the next 6 weeks than what we have identified over 21 months. Additionally, 25 million Covid-19 cases up to 31 January would actually mean 56 million infections (assuming the same rate of infections vs identified cases).
comment image
ConclusionVarious media outlets led with the 5,000 deaths a day headline unless we impose restrictions and sadly nobody checked the maths. To get to 5,000 deaths, we would need nearly 56 million infections across the population in just six weeks. We have issued 126 million vaccinations and the emerging evidence is that Omicron is less deadly (I have assumed it’s not for these calculations).
Sadly, the BBC often has this Professor on the airwaves across both their flagship TV and radio shows. If the journalists working there could smell how off the scale his numbers are, maybe they would give him a wide berth. If there is one thing Santa can do this Christmas, it is to deliver a new calculator to the Professor and for the media to stop using someone who through the headlines his numbers generate just instills unnecessary fear into the public.

ConteDust is working already. Loved how he waited for Klopp to make his subs and then dealt his hand immediately in reply.. We should have put 4 or 5 past them. Glad Kane got his goal, but him and Son were inconsistent again. We have to be more clinical in front of goal. Good team effort, but I thought the Scouse were there for the taking, again, especially without Van Djikhead back there.

I though Conte got massively improved
performances out of Dele,Sess and Winks all players who floundered under the previous two managers. It’s only one game but it seems to me that Conte is doing what top class coaches do in improving players by finding systems that get the best of the personnel. For the first time in I don’t know long I actually enjoyed watching Spurs.

Why have countries like Germany, France, Ireland, Scotland where passports have been in place for months have now ordered nightclubs to close. The only people in those clubs are the vaccinated. So who’s spreading it ?

Why are so many slagging of our defence? We’re playing counter attacking football against one of the best offensive sides in Europe and we’ve kept them down to one goal. I think given the tactics we’re employing they’re doing pretty well, especially with a couple of players who have only started playing for us regularly this season. I’d say our midfield is more worthy of disparagement.

What midfield? We are relying on the counterattack with Kane and Son. We have no transition between defence and attack. Liverpool use Roberston and Arnold all the time for width with Mane and Salah coming on from both flanks. We have Emerson and Sessegnon. We need a decent right-wing back with pace who can cross and we need players in the middle who hold possession. and can pass

Hmmmm …… good to watch for neutrals but so far so Spursy. We should have been at least 3-0 up by the time they equalised. We’re playing extremely well, except where it counts.

Sess looks a different player, Son’s making those well timed runs of old, Sanchez (dare I say it) is looking, so far, like the new Toby, and Winks is giving the ball away in midfield. Some things don’t change it appears.

Reminding me just a little of the CL final; we look very capable of winning it bar scoring.
