“I don’t think he’s the player people think he is” Simon Jordan gives Tottenham Ace both barrels…

By The Boy -

Simon Jordan tells it how it is, which is to say I completely agree with him. Dele Alli is only doing (against quite abysmal opposition, it has to be said) what he should have been doing in the first place. Train properly and play with a degree of maturity. Can the soon-to-be 25-year-old finally get his act together and score etc against big Premier League sides? We wait with bated breath. There are two sides to this argument – are on Jim White’s?

Jordan’s clearly talking sense, as he usually does. The problem with White’s view, which I believe is nothing more than bluster, to make the show a more appealing listen, is that he fails to make any acknowledgement of Dele’s decline in form over the last 2-3 years. It’s going to take more that a couple of vintage performances to lift him out of that slump.
To my mind he’s just one other in a group of players that, have been there far too long; and have become far too comfortable. You only have to look back at the goals he scored in his first 2 seasons; and the expressions in his face, that showed him as a snarling, hungry contender, to realise that he is clearly not that warrior anymore. And what’s more, I’ve no clue how you get something like that back. Whether or not he does, who knows?

Exactly, he now needs to perform and score against the top sides on a regular basis. Can he? Yes, because he has scored plenty against Chelsea, City, Utd and the Arses in the past as well as in the champions league. But will he? Well, from his attitude over the last couple of seasons i’m not so sure but I truly hope he can!
