“I don’t see this team starting without Harry” – Antonio Conte says Kane to remain in starting XI

Through 12 Premier League matches, Harry Kane has only one goal. Usually, this type of production results in a player riding the bench for a couple of games to allow another player to seize the opportunity.

However, as manager Antonio Conte stated while speaking with the media, he doesn’t have any better options at striker. The Athletic relayed the comments made by the Italian tactician, who said that he couldn’t leave Kane out of the starting eleven.

“I think to start the game without Harry is a bit difficult for me. Honestly, we are talking about an important player for us, an important player for all. In this moment, I am answering in this way,” Conte said.

“I hope later to improve the situation, to improve the confidence of all players, and to see that maybe without Harry we can cover the situation, not in the same way, but in a way that can be good to get three points. In this moment, honestly, I don’t see this team starting without Harry.”

Conte understands that there’s not much behind Kane that can be producing goals for his squad. Maybe the 28-year-old does need a mental break, but after a tough start to the season resulting in the sacking of former manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

As a result, Tottenham needs Kane to fight for points to make up the one dropped. Perhaps in the January window, they can bring in a striker to either pair with Kane or give him rest without worrying if the player that comes in and carries the goal-scoring responsibilities.
