‘I don’t see a way back’: Tottenham tipped to get rid of £200k-a-week star in summer

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is currently on loan at the Turkish club, Galatasaray.

The midfielder was sent out on loan to Turkey so that we can get his career back on track with regular football. However, the move has not worked out for the 27-year-old midfielder and he has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot. He had a disappointing spell at Napoli last season as well.

The player has had a tough time at Tottenham prior to that and it is evident that the player is going through a tough phase.

Journalist Dean Jones has now suggested that the writing is on the wall for the player and there is no way back for him at Tottenham. The North London outfit should look to cut their losses and sell him permanently in the summer.

“I don’t see a way back for Ndombele in this Tottenham setup. He is going to go down as a transfer flop. I think that he had an opportunity when Postecoglou first came into the club, and he didn’t impress. The writing has been on the wall for him for a long time now. This could have gone very differently because when they signed them, they were signing a really good player. But whatever it is, and it does feel like a lot of it is attitude and application, is not good enough.”

Based on his performances over the last couple of seasons, it is hard to see any club willing to pay a substantial amount of money for the player. It remains to be seen when he ends up. There is no doubt he has been a major flop for Tottenham since joining the club.

The North London outfit paid a club record fee of £63m to sign him in 2019 and the player was offered a contract worth around £200,000 a week.

Spurs will certainly feel that they have wasted their resources on him, and the money would have been better spent elsewhere. There is no doubt that they need to sign a quality central midfielder in the summer and it remains to be seen whether they can get rid of Ndombele and replace him adequately.
