Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is strongly linked with a move to Atlético Madrid with talks ongoing regarding a potential transfer this summer.
Spurs have so far managed to resist the advances from the La Liga side but are willing to sell him for the right price.
And according to Sami Mokbel of Daily Mail, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz has emerged as one of the players identified by Tottenham to replace him.
He was a regular start for them last season playing a key role in their comeback from being in relegation form to qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.
But now Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold has claimed that Luiz may be too expensive for Tottenham given that Aston Villa will not be keen to let him go.
He further tipped Spurs to go for Chelsea’s Gallagher who he believes would be great for the future.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:
“If Hojbjerg goes we know they have interest in Conor Gallagher and I saw Douglas Luiz linked today. Gallagher is one who could grow for the future. Luiz, I don’t know if it’s too expensive to be honest in that I don’t know if Villa would let him go for anything in the realms of possibility.”
With Villa having qualified for Europe, Emery will be hoping to keep his best players in order to build on the successful campaign last season.
Whether Tottenham will test the waters by making a bid or two remains to be seen but he would be an excellent signing if Spurs do go for him.
