Tanguy Ndombele didn’t arrive at Tottenham fully fit, and it undoubtedly hadn’t dawned upon him just how tough the demands of the Premier League were. In an interview just published in The Guardian, journalist David Hytner sums up the mess Tanguy had got himself into rather eloquently, “Ndombele had suffered more injury lay-offs (five) than he had completed 90 minutes of games (four).” And this was a player that took offence when José Mourinho complained to the press that he was always injured. Naturally, anything the Portuguese says is weighed and measured by his detractors for an opportunity to take another swing at a gaffer who must get very few Christmas cards indeed from football pundits.
The Frenchman’s exit was a very near thing the player admitted to Hytner, and at the time informed gossip suggested that Tanguy was set on quitting. What wasn’t public knowledge, however, is that the boy also wanted out, when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge!
“It was incredibly tough. I was even calling home to my friends in France saying I wanted to come back. Undoubtedly, it had a role to play in the injuries I got. My body needed to get used to that sort of work, and it was the shock of it, to begin with, that had a role to play in the fitness problems I had.”
Tanguy Ndombele
Under Mourinho, Tanguy got fitter and improved enormously, but it is unlikely this will be something many will opt to dwell upon.

Daniel Sturridge 😆😆😆😆
What’s he done exactly?
This.
I can add him the Roy Keane’s list of yesterday which was (Son Kane) Ndombele and Hojbjerg and Madrid boys that is Six and may be Lloris that is world class players who can play any top teams in Europe.therefore we need new six top players to compete and to be one of favourites to win the Pl and Champions league.
Baller. The end.
He has improved I grant you that, but he always looks as though he is suffering and not very happy, not one of “the boys”.
The haters will hate.
He’s magic you know couldn’t get a tune out of him, same as he let Dele continue to play despite being woeful week in week out….
A manager comes in and actually manages but the haters tell us he’s got form and freezes players out. 🤷🏻♂️
To be fair to the lad he got his head around and turned it around rather than throw his toys out of the pram. He is really growing into the central midfield role keeping it simple when he needs to and bursting forward when it is on. A lot of our attacks are instigated by him. There was one funny moment in the 2nd half when he managed to foul himself
Nope. Cotton wool crew.
Imagine having to work hard for your 100 plus grand a week??
Do any players play through injury’s nowadays?
